NETAVIS reduces inventory shrinkage at EDEKA to 0,01%

The open and spacious entrance area of the E-Center in Nienburg, Germany, gives clients the opportunity to exit the store with their shopping cart, without even passing the cash register. The market is now surveyed by NETAVIS Observer, and the entrance is secured with the seamlessly integrated iCAT video analytics:

the Object Tracking feature distinguishes people with and without trolleys or shopping carts. Anyone with a shopping cart leaving the store at the entrance passes a virtual trip wire (Smart Tripwire) and automatically triggers a discrete alarm so employees can react immediately.

Due to the IP cameras' high definition and the archive feature of NETAVIS Observer, the manipulation-safe SAFE-Export Format allows the police to identify more than two thirds of the thieves. Since the installation of the video surveillance inventory discrepancies have been reduced from 1,5 to 0,01 percent!

The 2.600 m² store is the first out of four markets of EDEKA Lustfeld GmbH with pure IP video surveillance. 48 Full-HD cameras with high definition cover the entire retail space. The professional video management platform NETAVIS Observer governs the entire installation, iCAT video analytics seamlessly included. It is specifically used to refine and efficiently optimize the general video surveillance.
